This section of my website documents my research into the relationship between art and rhetoric – speech that seeks to arouse emotion.

This work has been conducted through projects, which explore links between art practice and aspects of rhetorical theory; including the function of tropes and the role of pathos in rhetorical exchange. The study of rhetoric promises a fresh understanding of art’s representational function, creating a place for previously disregarded aspects of everyday experience such as gossip, anxiety and listening.
